As an avid myspace nut I actually think it has no place in the classroom. First of all from what I have read it is full of spam and other harmful things for your computer, defiantly not needed by a school. I have a laptop that now does not work....at all. The more research that I did on Facebook the more I learned that Myspace was full of hazards.
Another reason is that there is not much educational networking that is obvious. Yes you can find others from your school but it is in a search. On Facebook it tells you right on the page where your friends are from what college. It is geared towards that. Myspace is more of the virtual prom date finder for high schoolers, not to big on education and networking but on social aspects of life. It just seems like it would be a distraction in the classroom rather than a funtional teaching tool.

Facebook or Myspace
Ok this site is really for the typical college student, you can send someone a beer! Cheers to fellow classmates! I dont use this site very much but I am one that has fallen victim to Myspace, thanks alot to my friends from college. I dont know why they are not so different but I think Myspace is more geared to older people that are not in the college scene anymore. The thing I dont like about either site is that you can read so much about people, and it is so public. I use the feature that sets my information to private, so you have to be my friend to view my page. This is more helpful to choose who I want to see my pictures and such. It seems that college students just write anything and put anything on their page. My sister uses Facebook like she takes a shower soI see some of her friends pages. These students are putting their address and phone numbers on there for anyone to see. No wonder there are students disappearing they make it too easy to find them. I guess I am old fashioned for as young as I am, I like my privacy.

Second Life first experience
First time I was on SL I was so confused. This would probably be easier if i had played video games when I was younger. The tutorials were more confusing because the one that I viewed the instructor would tell you how to do something and then say 'oh wait that is not right hold on' and then would explain how to do things. I learned more by asking others how to do things.
Then I began to feel better about being in SL. By the time the class session was over I was more comfortable with my avatar.
